Pharmacodynamics. Bromhexine is a synthetic derivative of the active substance of plant origin, vasicine. It has a secretolytic and secretomotor effect in the bronchial tract, resulting in increased bronchial secretion, decreased mucus (sputum) viscosity and stimulated ciliated epithelium activity, which promotes the movement of mucus (sputum) through the respiratory tract.
