Mezym Forteis used for digestive problems, lack of secretory and digestive ability of the stomach and intestines, flatulence, diarrhea (including the states after resection of the stomach and small intestine, chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis). Mezym Forte facilitates the digestion of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, improves digestion.
Composition - 1 tablet contains: pancreatin (from porcine pancreas) with a minimum lipase activity of 10000 units
Mezym Forte - fills shortage of pancreatic enzymes - amylase, lipase and protease. Compensates lack of exocrine pancreatic function, improves digestion.
Mezym Forte tablets are coated with a shell that protects sensitive enteric enzymes. Only under exposure to alkaline environment of the small intestine, a dissolution membrane, and the release of pancreatic enzymes.
Mezym Forte facilitates the digestion of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, helps them better absorption in the small intestine. Trypsin also reduces stimulated pancreatic secretion.
Indicated for treating the following symptoms:

Dosage and administration:
Dosage of Mezym Forte is set individually, depending on the severity of digestive disorders. The question of the duration of treatment, the attending physician decides. Please contact your attending physician for dosage recomendations.
Mezym Forte is taken orally before or during a meal without chewing, with plenty of fluids.
Adults are usually prescribed for 1-4 tablets 2-3 times a day. The maximum daily dose of 15,000-20,000 IU of lipase per 1 kg of body weight.
Dose escalation should be under the supervision of a physician, taking into account the positive dynamics of clinical manifestations of the disease, such as steatorrhea or pain.
The duration of treatment may vary from a single dose or a few days, to a few months / years (permanently replacement therapy).
For Kids Mezym forte is prescribed in doses required for normalization of stools, but not higher than 1500 IU of lipase per 1 kg of body weight of a child under the age of 12 years. For children aged 12-18 years daily dose should not exceed 15,000-20,000 IU of lipase per 1 kg of body weight. Children Mezym forte is applied by a doctor prescrption.
Overdose: Highly unusual occurance as pancreatin is not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract.
Contraindications: Individual intolerance (including a history of hypersensitivity) components Mezym Forte (including pork), acute pancreatitis or exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis.
Side effects: Possible allergic reactions of immediate type. Symptoms of intestinal obstruction in cystic fibrosis patients after receiving Mezym forte in high doses (possibly stricture formation in the ileocecal site and in the ascending colon). With prolonged use Mezym forte in high doses may develop hyperuricosuria and hyperuricemia (necessary to control the content of urate in the urine).
Special instructions and precautions: Mezim Forte contains active enzymes that can damage the mucosa of the oral cavity, so the tablets should be swallowed whole, not chewed. Mezim Forte should not be used in patients with the syndrome of congenital galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or malabsorption of glucose and galactose. Patients mucoviscidosis should be aware of the possibility of intestinal strictures and intestinal obstruction. Mezym Forte has no effect on the reaction rate when driving and operating machinery.
Drug Interactions: With prolonged use Mezym forte reduces the absorption of iron. In an application with iron preparations may reduce the absorption of the latter. Antacids that contain calcium carbonate or magnesium hydroxide may reduce the effectiveness of Mezym forte.
